The Art of Science Storytelling
I’m Harrison—a filmmaker and educator blending science with storytelling. With an MFA in Science Filmmaking and a BS in Biomedical Sciences, I create content that makes complex ideas engaging and accessible. From NASA to OutdoorClass, I craft visuals that educate and inspire, using my teaching experience to break down concepts and bring stories to life.
The Journey So Far
Hey there! I’m Harrison: filmmaker, educator, and science communicator with a passion for turning complex ideas into engaging visual stories.
I earned my MFA in Science and Natural History Filmmaking from Montana State University and a BS in Biomedical Sciences and Film Production from Western Michigan University. These academic foundations equipped me with a unique blend of scientific knowledge and creative expertise that I’ve carried into my professional journey.
As a Cinematographer and Editor at OutdoorClass, I developed educational content that inspires outdoor enthusiasts, using advanced techniques in multi-camera setups, lighting, and motion graphics to deliver polished and impactful stories. My work as an Assistant Video Editor & Animator at MeatEater sharpened my ability to craft compelling visuals and animations, while my time at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center allowed me to collaborate with scientists and animators on high-profile multimedia projects, including the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary campaign.
In addition to filmmaking, I’ve spent years teaching. From biology, human anatomy, and molecular biology to teaching English abroad in China, my teaching experience has honed my ability to break down complex subjects for diverse audiences. This skillset directly informs my approach to filmmaking, where I strive to educate, inspire, and make learning accessible through compelling visual storytelling.
Whether behind the camera, in the editing suite, or in the classroom, I bring the same passion for education and creativity to everything I do. My goal is to connect people with science, nature, and new perspectives through the power of film.
